Safety and public education regarding autonomous vehicles (AV) will be the focus of the second annual World Safety Summit on Autonomous Technology.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal posted an events story that noted:

“Attendees can learn about the major concerns are surrounding self-driving vehicles and how those concerns are being addressed. The event features panels on cybersecurity, test protocols and procedure, and the perspectives of both consumers and the media.”

Lidar News also ran a story on the summit, which stated the summit offers attendees:

“In the spirit of collaboration, this event provides a forum for clear public explanations, frank discussions and creative solutions regarding authentic autonomy, consumer transparency and good practices. The goal is to help advance the potential of autonomous vehicles and thereby reduce the damage caused by the 94% of collisions resulting from human error.”

Yahoo! Finance posted SAE International news that the global association will sponsor two expert-led panel discussions at the World Safety Summit. The post quotes Dr. Raman Venkatesh, Executive Vice President and COO, SAE International, as saying:

“Velodyne has been a tremendous partner for the SAE Demo Days so we are proud to support the World Safety Summit to give people a hands-on experience with automated vehicles and the chance to learn from key business, government, public safety and community leaders about the future of mobility.”

The World Safety Summit is a free event, which is open to the public. It takes place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on October 2. The register please go to the summit webpage.
