Micro Lidar Array (MLA) features Velodyne’s groundbreaking optical chip technology, with 8 lidar channels miniaturized to the size of a penny, that forms the “engine” of the lidar sensor. The MLA brings together the core elements that make lidar work: the optical chip and Velodyne’s ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) technology. The miniaturization combined with Velodyne’s proprietary, fully automated manufacturing process enables cost-effective, high-quality mass production.
Velodyne sensors consume less power than other lidar sensors in their class, extending system operation range and reducing heat load. This  power efficiency bolsters sustainability across a wide array of applications.

We’ve done the hard work for you. Vella Development Kit (VDK) is the lidar perception software solution you’re looking for.
We designed the aesthetically pleasing, compact M1600 to be a perfect fit for external mounting. It was also developed with a streamlined single connector for ease of embeddability.
“Our Stan robots are industrial outdoor autonomous valets, and therefore particularly demanding for components in terms of environment (especially vibration, temperature and weather) and performance. The Velarray M1600’s solid-state architecture and small form factor make it a particularly relevant candidate. Our first tests in various weather conditions have demonstrated a promising potential for improving the detection and measurement performance of vehicles. While we design our next generation robots, we face strong challenges on architecture, durability and sensing performance and we believe the M1600 is the best candidate to tackle them all.”
