Quality is at the core of everything we do, by everyone at Velodyne, every day. And while Velodyne believes quality is everyone’s responsibility, our Vice President of Quality Neeraj Chopra and his Global Quality team take the lead on quality and how it is delivered across Velodyne.

Velodyne’s Quality Promise

By closely working with internal colleagues, the Global Quality team is helping the company to deliver on our quality promise. This statement is what drives our team.

Quality First

The Global Quality team works collaboratively with all company functions, taking a “Quality First” mindset. They have implemented a world-class quality management system (QMS) that is tracked by metrics and data, driven to achieve continual improvement.

Velodyne operates a lean and efficient QMS along with elite document/change control processes. The system enables us to attain product, environmental, and health and safety compliance. It is helping us gain design and production efficiencies and drive out wasteful costs.

Customer quality is at the center of everything we do, with a focus on providing best-in-class products and support to continuously enhance customer satisfaction. We are realizing this objective through:

• Design quality focused to deliver excellent products by incorporating quality and reliability into the development phase. This includes a focus in development on advanced product quality planning (APQP), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), design for excellence (DfX) and more. It also involves scalable new product introduction planning and execution, from development to manufacturing, to deliver high quality.
• Supplier and contract manufacturer quality management to consistently build high-quality products that meet customer expectations.
• Product and environmental compliance and documentation control that satisfy customer requirements.

Global Quality Organization

To help us realize our goals, we have a Global Quality organization that engages colleagues across Velodyne. The group was designed for ease of doing business for customers, suppliers and other internal functions. This organization has seven teams:

• Quality Management System: aligned with all of Velodyne
• Design Quality Engineering: aligned with R&D
• Customer Quality Engineering: aligned with Sales and Product groups
• Supplier/CM Quality Engineering: aligned with Operations and Supply Chain
• Manufacturing Quality Engineering: aligned with Operations, Ops Engineering and Manufacturing
• Product Compliance Group: aligned with Product groups and R&D
• Documentation Control Group: aligned with all of Velodyne
