Velodyne Lidar has had the great privilege of partnering with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for three years on a public education initiative focusing on the safety benefits of autonomous vehicle technology.
In a new video, MADD’s National President Alex Otte discussed why the Velodyne partnership is so important to MADD, and a future of zero deaths and injuries caused by drunk and drugged drivers.
Alex references how drunk driving continues to claim more than 10,000 lives and 300,000 injuries every year–adding “we have a long way to go to get to zero.”
In the video, Alex says:
“We know technology will help us get there. With each advance in technology, we see more lives spared of the horrible physical and emotional impact caused by impaired driving.”
“MADD is proud of our partnership and shared mission with Velodyne Lidar. It will take all of us to end impaired driving and make our streets safer.”
The Velodyne and MADD partnership includes educational programs, awareness campaigns and co-sponsored events to continue to build public acceptance of autonomous technology with the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating impaired driving collisions.
