It is with pleasure that Velodyne Lidar, Inc. invites you to the annual World Safety Summit on Autonomous Technology to address safety issues and public concern in the realm of autonomous vehicles. In the spirit of collaboration, we invite a broad range of perspectives and creative solutions to the Summit. This provides a forum for clear public explanations and frank discussions regarding the direction of authentic autonomy while promoting consumer transparency and practices. In doing so, we believe we can advance the potential of autonomous vehicles, thereby reducing damage caused by the 94% of collisions currently resulting from human error.
Recent opinion surveys indicate significant public concern, confusion and mistrust surrounding AVs. Partners for Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE) is working to build trust in the future of transportation by countering misinformation, hype and fear by using facts about how AVs work and the associated benefits of safer mobility and sustainability. Panelists, including PAVE members, will discuss the public information challenges and the growing coalition’s strategy for addressing them.
A self-driving car business will ferry passengers to their locations, but before this is possible, it will require a maturity akin to the airline industry. In order to move from innovation to full implementation, stakeholders must come together to establish and meet standards for safety, regulation, and technology. Panelists will discuss what is happening within their organizations and their visions for the future.
One of the biggest hurdles for mass adoption of autonomous vehicles is consumer acceptance. This panel features recent AV riders who will share their before and after experiences of riding in a self-driving car for the first time. The panel will also explore the media perspective about AVs, consumer opinion, and public adoption. Speakers will discuss their views on the benefits of autonomous vehicles and about how to get more people to embrace this technology.
This panel will discuss how stakeholders within the autonomous vehicle (AV) industry can perform vehicle testing and validation in a way that prioritizes safety and preserves public confidence. Speakers will address challenges and requirements at each step of testing, from simulation and closed course testing to on-road testing and deployment.
This panel will explore the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that are currently available in consumer vehicles, and how to ensure consumers understand the functionality differences between ADAS and full autonomy (SAE Level 4/Level 5). Speakers will also address the pathway to full autonomy, including the technologies required and public adoption, which can ultimately fulfill the promise of safer mobility.
Learn from a diverse range of companies about their autonomous programs as they develop their solutions for safer and more efficient mobility. Panelists will discuss their current status and strategies for supporting and delivering self-driving vehicles. They will also talk about their vision for social, environmental, and economic benefits.
Autonomous vehicles require today’s most advanced and sophisticated technology. This panel will discuss cybersecurity risks and the planning and implementation required to confront threats before they become a reality. Panelists will also share their perspectives about cybersecurity-related standards, regulations, and business opportunities within the AV industry.
