Company Strengthens Executive Bench While Ramping to Large-Scale Production
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Velodyne LiDAR Inc., the world leader in 3D real-time perception systems for autonomous vehicles, today announced Robert (Bob) Brown has joined the company as its Chief Financial Officer. Brown will report to founder and CEO David Hall.

Velodyne invented and patented the world’s first 3D real-time LiDAR sensors in 2005, creating both the core foundational sensor technology enabling the autonomous market, as well as achieving the market share leadership position in truly autonomous vehicle programs. Velodyne is backed by several notable investors and partners, including the Ford Motor Company and Baidu. Sensors today are manufactured at its Megafactory in San Jose, California.
Brown joins Velodyne LiDAR from VeriSilicon Holdings Co., where he served as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, responsible for functions including accounting, FP&A, legal, IT, and investor relations. Over the course of his career, he has played a key role in M&A transactions and financings valued at over $20 billion, including the sale of LSI to Avago Technologies for $6.6 billion in May 2014. Brown has held senior financial and business development roles at LSI Corporation and Cadence Design Systems, and various finance roles at Hewlett-Packard. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Miami University and his MBA from the University of Michigan.
