Theodore “Ted” L. Tewksbury, Ph.D. was named Velodyne Lidar Chief Executive Officer, reported Lidar News.

An article by Aria Alamalhodaei in TechCrunch quoted Ted saying:

“I was attracted to Velodyne for a very simple reason which is, as you all know, the company is the undisputed lidar technology pioneer and market leader. I have a proven track record of building and scaling innovative technology businesses, and driving revenue growth, profitability and shareholder value, which in my view is exactly what Velodyne needs today.”

An Auto Futures post quoted Michael Dee, Chairman of the Velodyne Board of Directors, saying:

“Ted’s extensive leadership experience in addition to engineering expertise, make him an ideal candidate to lead Velodyne as we continue to lead the lidar industry with the most cutting-edge products and scalable manufacturing capacity. Innovation and execution are our most important priorities and Ted’s direct experience designing and manufacturing leading-edge technologies makes him a natural complement to Velodyne’s world-class technology development and engineering team.”

Anthony James wrote in Autonomous Vehicle International how Ted “is a proven technology executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience across a series of public and private companies. He most recently served as CEO of Eta Compute, a leading provider of ultra-low-power AI vision systems.”

A Silicon Valley Business Journal story by Cromwell Schubarth included comments from Ted:
