The world of autonomous vehicle technology extends beyond cars and trucks to address a range of other commercial applications.

One company developing a variety of driverless systems is Idriverplus. Andrew Krok of CNET Roadshow wrote a story about the news that Velodyne has teamed with Idriverplus to help Idriverplus with its efforts for mass production of autonomous vehicles, which include street cleaners, passenger cars, and logistics vehicles.

In discussing Idriverplus commercial autonomous vehicle initiatives, the article noted:

“Idriverplus is working on a number of different commercial autonomous vehicles, including the street cleaners seen above and passenger cars. Already, over 100 of the street sweepers are in use across China, covering schools, parks, regular ol’ city streets and even an amusement park. Beyond China, Idriverplus has partnerships in Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore.”

Piyush Rajan of Telematics Wire also covered this news in a story that included Velodyne’s Executive Director APAC Wei Weng saying:

“Idriverplus is trailblazing the commercialization of driverless technology in China. Idriverplus autonomous driving products show how Velodyne intelligent lidar sensors are enabling companies to place autonomous vehicles on the road today. They are transforming multiple service sectors by creating powerful autonomous driving solutions.”
