ANYbotics Adds Velodyne Sensors to its Autonomous Mobile Robots, Media Reports
Aug 13, 2021 | By Velodyne Lidar

ANYbotics is equipping its autonomous mobile robots with Velodyne Lidar’s Puck™ sensors, reported Robotics Tomorrow.

Florina Spînu, writing in autoevolution, called out using Puck sensors will allow ANYbotics’ robot, called ANYmal, “to map industrial areas, recognize obstacles, and prevent collisions while navigating rugged terrains with more accuracy.”

In an ITPro story, Praharsha Anand quoted Daniel Lopez Madrid, team lead of perception at ANYbotics, saying:

“Velodyne’s lidar sensors provide ANYmal with a constant stream of high-resolution, 3D information about its surroundings, helping the robot safely map and patrol complex and harsh environments. The sensors enable precise localization and mapping capabilities our robots need to understand the physical environment they are operating in and any changes such as moving people and objects.”

A post in The Robot Report includes comments from Velodyne’s Executive Director Europe Erich Smidt saying:

“ANYbotics robotic solutions excel at automating industrial inspections that provide plant operators information to maximize equipment uptime and improve safety. By using Velodyne’s LiDAR, the robots can autonomously navigate complex multi-story environments and find the quickest route to perform missions. During operation, the robot’s system can safely avoid obstacles and reliably move over rough terrain.”
