It was the first; here’s to the first of many. Some of the most respected and well-known experts intricately involved in the ever-expanding and increasingly vital field of autonomous vehicles (AV) shared their knowledge in front of a crowd of 300 who attended the inaugural Velodyne LiDAR World Safety Summit in Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium.
The summit fielded a heavy-hitting lineup of keynote speakers, such as Christopher Hart, former chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board. He was followed by a series of panels which consisted of stakeholders in the autonomous driving landscape, including business, government, public safety and community.
The focus of the summit – the brainchild of Marta Toma Hall, Velodyne LiDAR’s president and chief officer of business development – was to explore the issue of safety and how to promote it while development continues in the ever-expanding field of autonomous vehicles.
