Emesent Autonomously Mapping the Inaccessible
Jan 15, 2022 | By Velodyne Lidar

Data collection in GPS-denied environments, such as mines and under bridges, creates safety and operational challenges. Inspections and surveys can create dangerous conditions for personnel.

In the video below, Dr. Jeremy Sofonia, Technical Evangelist at Emesent, discusses their Hovermap mobile scanning system for mapping hazardous and GPS-denied environments. Hovermap is a smart mobile scanning unit, equipped with our Puck LITE sensors, that provides autonomous mapping.

Hovermap has a flexible design that allows it to be used for drone, walking, vehicle or backpack-mounted scans. In the video, Jeremy also discusses how Hovermap can be integrated with Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot.

Equally capable above ground or underground, indoors or out, Hovermap provides high-quality data capture for the mining, construction and infrastructure, and survey and mapping. Watch Jeremy’s video to learn how Hovermap can obtain vital data in challenging environments in real time without risking the machine or operator safety. The video can be accessed here:
