  • Use Case/Customer Profile

    In 2018 and 2019, TURING Drive completed two one-month pilot operation projects in local expos. Two one-year POC/POS projects are taking place from mid-2019 to mid-2020. Beginning in May 2020, TURING Drive’s shuttles will run on dedicated bus lanes in downtown Taipei City. In addition, TURING’s autonomous golf carts will begin operation on a local golf course by mid-2020.

    TURING Drive supplies the core autonomous driving system and hardware/software integration. Selective models of autonomous driving passenger shuttles can be delivered jointly by TURING Drive and its vehicle partner. Working with vehicle manufacturers, TURING Drive can also apply the system to special-purpose vehicles. Possible fields of application include:

    • Enhanced road safety in urban areas
    • Accessible transport to remote places
    • Improved efficiency and safety for human labor (for example, agriculture)
    • Automated public services (e.g. street sweepers, food truck, logistic carriers, tunnel inspectors, etc.), as illustrated by Toyota’s e-Palette concepts
  • Technology Description

    TURING Drive deploys its own autonomous driving software on vehicles, integrating the sensors and referring to HD maps for perception and localization. The team harnesses vehicle control technology based on multi-body dynamic and road features. Other competitive advantages include:

    1. Autonomous driving system modules: TURING Drive’s modules can be adapted to all types of carriers, whether manned or unmanned. Such applications can be highly customized and are not limited to four wheelers, but also street sweepers, snowplows, lawnmowers, etc.
    2. Electric vehicle and control-by-wire know-how: The team is the only AV provider in Taiwan that covers both drive-by-wire and vehicle manufacturing, which gives TURING Drive the advantage over competitors who may have limited access to the adjustment, testing, and control of the vehicle.
    3. High-performance computing technology: TURING Drive holds the keys for GPU computing: the CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) and CUDA Extensions, such as Tensor RT and cuDNN. The team is devoted to, and therefore specialized in, NVIDIA’s DRIVE series.
