Velodyne made a big splash last week in Las Vegas while attending the Commercial UAV Expo, October 31-November 2nd. We began the show with a product preview, presented by Harris Wang, of our VLP-16 Puck LITE™. The Puck LITE™ is Velodyne’s first LiDAR unit designed for applications that demand a lower weight to meet their requirements, such as mapping using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The Puck LITE™ has identical performance to VLP-16 Puck with a reduced weight of weight of 590 g. The Puck LITE™ retains its patented 360° surround view to capture real-time 3D LiDAR data that includes distance and calibrated reflectivity measurements.
The Velodyne booth also featured Vitad Pradith, Project Lead for HYPACK, who was demonstrating HYPACK’s new complete unmanned aerial mapping solution, the Nexus 800. The NEXUS 800, powered by HYPACK, is an out of the box turnkey system that tightly integrates hardware and software to provide an advanced and seamless solution for LiDAR survey planning, data acquisition, post processing and analysis, and product creation. The Nexus 800 features a Velodyne VLP-16 Puck Lite as part of its integrated system.
